Absolutely Fucking Insane

Today I decided to watch some HBO documentary programming via my cable’s “On Damand” option. First I watched some stupid Heidi Fleiss thing (what a train wreck) about her “Stud Farm” in Nevada. Sufficiently bored, I moved on to something called “Ganja Queen” about the imprisonment and trial, in Indonesia, of one Schapelle Corby.

I have never been so heart broken, for a complete stranger, in my life. And I cannot believe that her own government (Australia) has done nothing to get her out of that hell hole and back home with her family. It absolutely blows my fucking mind right out of my head.

If you don’t know who Schapelle is, you should. Someone put a ten-pound bag of marijuana in her unlocked boogie board bag without her knowledge. Upon arrival in Indonesia, it was discovered and then all hell broke loose. Her “trial” was a fucking JOKE and she was sentenced to 20 years in that shithole, 3 years of which she has served. If you go to her homepage and read about what exactly went down, you will be as shocked and angry as I am. Unless you don’t have a heart or any common sense, in which case you’re an Indonesian judge.

I don’t know why I’m writing this post. It feels futile as there is nothing I can do to get her out of prison. But I just couldn’t let it go, and felt a need to tell people about her that don’t know her story. I think everyone should know about her, because the scariest part of what happened to her is that this can happen to ANYONE. And while I cannot get her out of prison, I can write letters and send her care packages. And so can you. You can also join me in signing the petition for her freedom.

I’m not going to forget this woman and I hope no one else does either.

Peace and FREEDOM.

    Hi Corrina

Thank you Neville, for reading this post and leaving a comment.

I have registered with your forum and have already posted there as well.

God bless everyone who speaks out on her behalf. Too much of this world takes for granted their freedom to do so.

Thanks for posting this blog. I’m a Schapelle supporter from Australia and we need to spread the word about this horrific situation. You might also want to read Schapelle’s book, “No More Tomorrows”

  5. Natural says:

Whoa, I just read her website and her arrest is unjust for this simple fact:

Schapelle checked in her bag at Brisbane airport and neither she, nor her travelling companions, had any contact with it until after it arrived in Bali.

If it were her handbag, I might be looking at her crooked, but anytime you are separated from your luggage almost anybody can dump crap in there.

There are a lot of innocent people in jail cause people are stuck on the “facts” and not truth. This doesn’t even read like truth, there’s too much possibility. 20 years is too long if you didn’t kill anyone.

Man, I just watched the YouTube video, you have got to be kidding me. That was a lot of drugs. No way. I’m surprised that no government official is doing anything to help this girl. It makes me angry.

I read about this poor woman recently, after watching the movie Return to Paradise . . . somehow I got caught up reading about real people who’d been caught - fairly or unfairly - smuggling drugs.

God, I am terrified of this happening to me somehow. Can you imagine? I haven’t been to any high-drug-trafficking countries, and I’m always careful with my luggage, but still. Those baggage handlers . . . ?

Anyway, I do feel for this woman. She was definitely not treated fairly. Like Natural said, there are too many questions here to just slap down a 20-year sentence. Also — 20 years? How about giving some real time to child molesters/killers and murderers?

    Disgusting.

I need to Tivo the HBO show. (I thought about also checking out the Heidi Fleiss thing, but after reading your review of that I think I’ll skip it.)

I know there have a been a couple of movies with this sort of theme, young people in a foreign country arrested for drugs. Return to Paradise with Joaquin Phoenix comes to mind…they always seem like something that could never possibly happen. How sad and scary to think it actually has happened to this poor woman.

I signed the petition, wish there was more we could do.

I got chills watching that video. I have as much anger about what happened to her as I have fear that it could happen to me. Incredible, frightening and deplorable.

Thank you to EVERYONE who left a comment on this post. I think about this girl every moment of every day and I wish that every one of you would too. The life expectancy in that prison is TEN YEARS and she has already been treated for a HOST of ailments including severe depression.

Please pray for her. EVERY DAY.

It is incredible. I just spent 2 hours digging on this. Sheesh, it just gets worse and worse.

The Aussie media have a lot to answer for too, using it to dig gold. That poor poor woman.

I found this too, on them covering their tracks:

Someone has got to help her.

I’ll admit it: I’d probably be dead by now in her shoes.

Wow…I didn’t know about this till I read your blog.

Thank you, this is another reason why I only travel with ONE carry-on sized backpack that I keep with me and locked at ALL TIMES when I travel on business or vacation.

And another reason why I will probably never visit any country outside of the conus/oconus USA.
