I have been lucky to be able to remain friends with nearly all of my exes. I don't necessarily talk to them all the time, but we're friendly. D is the only one, however, that I would get out of bed at 4 a.m. for. And I've thought of turning my phone off but I'd hate to not be available for a friend who might need me. Usually a ride is all that is needed, or a shoulder to cry on. So far, it's never been bail money or the like. LOL... I'll go knock on wood now. Hi Marvin! You are a good person to help D out, because those waste-of-skin druggies never would, unless it would be to rob him later. But I have never answered a past-midnight phone call that did not turn out to be somewhere between a problem and a pain in the ass crisis.
