PMS Thursday

An Open Letter to Loreal,

Stop putting celebrities in your hair color ads. I refuse to believe, for even one-tenth of a second, that Heather Locklear and Eva Longoria sit at home and dye their own hair, and from a box no less. They do not use your hair color, so stop trying to convince me that they do. Do you really think that your target audience is that stupid?

If you want women to consider using your product, then use it on NON-celebrity women who DID dye their hair, at home, using your product. Then put THOSE women in your commercials.

Until then, kiss my ass.

Peace and truth in advertising.

I totally agree. I am tired of seeing celebrities advertising hair color or makeup or insurance or whatever. Especially the hair and makeup - my eyeballs always jog and I have to blink and look again, because the celebrity never looks quite like the way we are used to seeing them elsewhere, and I am not sure if that’s really who it is.

OMG I know! Mine is the Sunsilk commercial though. If I hear the Madonna song one more time, I’m going to throw something at my TV (I want a new one anyway!) ha!

I totally agree! They really must think we are stupid.. if I had the money of these celebs then I wouldn’t be using these “do it yourself” dyes either!

So true!!! I can’t tell you how many times I’ve thought that same thing. It’s almost embarrassing to see a Celebrity on one of those adds. “You know, that we know, that you know, that we know they aint usin’ your product”! But for some reason they put their faces on the adds and they sell more of their products. Someone’s fallin’ for it.

I used to dye my hair, when I had more of it :)
I never picked dye by who was in commercials, I just picked the ones that would annoy conservative older people the most. I found out if I got my wife to color my hair purple/ red, then a week later put in the blonde dye and rinse it out at the right time I could get bright orange. Every time I looked in the mirror I just laughed. Take that, Heather Longoria!

I’d pay $50 to see Eva Longoria doing her own hair.

    AMEN everyone!

And Fashion Paramedic - Those photos were quite eye opening!

Hi Tim… And your comment made me laugh! I wish I had the guts to dye my hair different colors!

I like the one where Chantal Kreviazuk is trying to talk her mom into coloring her hair too. My daughter said when she saw it, “As if she’s doing her own hair!” Glad to see we’re not the only ones who think those commercials are stupid!

Hi Cindy, thanks for stopping by! I don’t know why, but I just finally had enough of that stupidity! Ha ha

  10. Susan says:

I don’t think there has been a time when I saw one of those commercials when I didn’t think the exact same thing. That’s why I couldn’t watch TV without my TiVo–commercials are annoying on so many levels.

I don’t even color my hair at home and I’m a nobody. I’m sure they don’t do it either. It’s all about the benjamins. They probably don’t use that stuff, but say they do.
