I’m a Man!

I was doing some catching up on the blogs I love to read and while over at Lady Banana’s blog, I found something silly, yet interesting to do. Turns out you can take a short little quiz and it’ll tell you what gender you are- on the inside.

Now, I know that I am not a “girly” girl. I never have been and I never will be. I like to dress nice (no dresses), carry a nice purse and wear make-up. However, I don’t spend much time on my hair (wash, blow dry, done), I swear a lot, drink beer a lot, I’m not a very touchy-feely person, nor do I like talking about “feelings” or having endless gab sessions with my girlfriends. That’s why they have other girlfriends. I love sports, video games and all things electronic. I hate shopping, shoes don’t make me swoon nor do I have an overstuffed closet full of things I don’t wear.

Knowing myself like I do, I was prepared for my inner gender to be predominately male; that’s who I am. My mom even refers to me as “the son she never had”- but only when she needs furniture/home gym equipment put together, which I’m good at doing. And, sure enough, my results were just what I thought they’d be: My inner gender is male. I thought it would be interesting to dissect the description of my maleness.

“You are rational, matter of fact, and quite dominant.” - This is true.

“You like to get things done, without any emotional messiness.” - Very, very true.

“You truly don’t understand most women. And you definitely feel more comfortable around men.” - Not exactly true. Although I don’t think that even God, Himself, understands most women, I understand the ones I surround myself with. Very well. I might not be all about my feelings, but I do have them, after all. As for being more comfortable around men- I’m equally comfortable with both sexes. I think it has to do with the whole “dominance” thing.

My results end with, “No doubt about it. You’re a guy - at least on the inside.” - Emotionally and mentally, to a certain extent, that makes sense. Physically- my uterus begs to differ.

Peace and power tools.

GAAAAAH! My inner gender is FEMALE! Obviously there’s something wrong with the test.

“You’re sensitive, caring, and willing to connect with anyone who’s open to you.” No, I just mirror people’s emotions and react in a way that they will perceive to be supportive. It’s interesting to watch other people’s lives and to learn from their mistakes. It’s important to make people think that you care, so that they will continue to talk with you, so that you can continue to learn from them. ;-)

“You make friends easily, and you enjoy all sorts of conversations.” I have very few “friends.” I have many many “acquaintances.” I enjoy conversations to the extent that I make the appropriate noises to encourage people to talk about themselves. You can learn all sorts of things about people because they will take any and every opportunity to talk about their favorite subject: themselves. The hard part is remembering who told you what. The easy part is forgetting most of it, so you don’t have to remember which secrets to keep.

“You understand most people you meet - better than they understand themselves.” It’s easy to use logic and reason to determine WHY people did something, and WHAT they will do next, based on what they have done in the past (even if their own decision-making is NOT based on logic or reason). As far as “understanding” people…. no. I wouldn’t ever say that I understand people. I can merely predict their behavior with reasonable accuracy.

“You’re totally a woman… or at the very least, your soul is female.” Martians are asexual. If that means that, to a human, Martians are female, that’s fine.

I think that test is disturbing in that it only asks seven questions to make such a sweeping determination. ;-)

I think it’s interesting that you think like a man. The world needs more women who think like men. I married one. She is more “male” in her thinking and in her soul than I am. I like that very much. It’s much easier to relate to her. I think it will make it easier for you to find that special man to relate to you.

Marvin - Your whole first comment made me laugh hysterically! Yeah- I’m thinking that 7 little random questions can’t really be that accurate. Although, my results were pretty right on. And thank you for the encouraging words… I am hopeful that my lack of the stereotypical female “drama” gene will make my interactions with men easier. lol

Lady Banana - Thanks for giving me something to do! And I can imagine that most women wouldn’t want their inner gender to be male. Ha ha! Fortunately, I already knew that mine was… I’m waaaaayyyy more male minded than female.

  5. JD says:

Hmmm. I, too, am a male. That surprised me a little. I share many of your non-girly qualities, but I still would’ve thought I’d end up more on the girly side than manly side. I do hate shopping–that must be a big indicator.

    Fun quiz!

JD - AMEN to hating shopping! And while I’m at it, God bless the Internet! I’d never have new things if it wasn’t for online shopping! HAHAHA

Dawn - You get down with your bad self! :-)

I thought I’d made the “It” list, but it turns out I’m just an “it” instead of a male or a female.

Wow, I can’t believe how accurate that test was. It only took seven questions to completely encapsulate my entire personality. That’s stupendous. Now if only there were seven questions I could ask which would give me a complete understanding of women.

VE - Somewhere in the middle seems like a good place to be! You’re never just an “it”. :-)

Ernie - Yes… quite the eye opener, right? LOL! And I don’t think there exists any amount of questions to understand women. I barely get myself half the time! Ha!

Rozella - Thanks for visiting! I’m glad your inner you is female! lol

Love Bites - Oh yes, fierce lady, I know. Thank you for not shredding my blog! :-)

Natural - Really? Do you hate shopping too? LOL

Katie - Thanks for stopping by! I’m glad you’ll be back… I’ll be visiting your blog as well. :-)
