I’ve Had Enough!!
Okay… Spammers have officially pissed me off and I am at the end of my proverbial rope. I’ve tested out several anti-spam plugins, but they weren’t working the way I wanted them to. So now I’m trying the WordPress included “Akismet”. I’ve heard both good and bad things about it, so I guess I’ll see for myself.
Since I am using Akismet, I will stop moderating comments in order to let it work, and do it’s thing. I will still be combing through the comments marked as spam, however- to make sure that nothing gets stuck that shouldn’t be.
If you leave me a comment, and it doesn’t show up, please feel free to shoot me an email and let me know. (corrina [at] myrandomblog [dot] net) I’m hoping this doesn’t suck because I’d really hate to start using CAPTCHA or some other kind of thing that causes my visitors to have to do anything but read, leave a witty comment and pimp their own blogs.

Corrna — Akismet works wonders for me. I’ve only had a few people get stuck in it. But I review what gets in there twice daily, so I can pull people out as soon as I recognize them as not spam. I hate that CAPTCHA thing.

Awww… You’re my first non-moderated comment, Kathy! Weirdest thing is that since I activated the plugin- no one’s tried to spam me yet! I am ever hopeful that Akismet is going to work for me too.

I’m stuck at blogspot for what could be an eternal hell. I used to get spammers, but then I started moderating, and only get spam once in a while. Good luck with Akismet. Maybe someday I’ll move from blogger . . .

Hmmm - I never get spam, but I have my random-word-input function turned on at Blogspot. No problems.

Fashion Paramedic - I started on Blogger. The only reason I moved was because my blog was new enough to not have hundreds of posts to transfer and also because I’m a total control freak and wanted to be able to have my own space. Plus I always worried that “someday” they might force ads or something… Paranoia. lol
Marvin - CAPTCHA is a great way to reduce or eliminate spam, but I don’t want to impliment it here b/c it’s often hard to read- or is long. Although I haven’t had problems using it on Blogger hosted blogs.

I hear that … they’ve been spamming all my blogs lately, it’s very annoying. I mean do they really get business that way? I really doubt it.

I knew there was something different when my comment showed up right away. I hate spam too, such a waste of time. I use Akismet now, before I had nothing. It catches most if not all of the spam.
